Our Shows / The Black Dawn / Re: New Web Series - Coming Soon

I'll be honest, I thoroughly enjoyed the quirkiness of Cataclysmo, so I'm a bit wary as to the coming darkness. I will watch it with care and respect and an open mind. But I'll be honest... as exciting and interesting and dramatic as this new show seems to look I fear it will not live up to Cataclysmo standards in my mind.
Then again, nothing ever will ;-).
Still, I'll be here and I will enjoy myself! The previews look amazing!

A big thank you to the Serial Gods for their fun and wonderful project. It was a lot of hard work for everyone involved and it showed. All we fans had to do was sit back and enjoy and complain about minor details or whenever an episode was too late. We apologize for any pressure we may have put on you, but suffice it to say, it was worth it.
Thanks again for a wonderful time.
And yes, Erin deserves her own show! All of us normal guys (with tiny crushes on the Sam character) wouldn't mind seeing more of her kicks! Step aside Buffy, there's a new chick in town!

I can't believe it took me so long to finally see the final ep! Ye Gods, what an epic show! All hail the Serial Gods! Standing ovation to the whole crew, the actors and everyone who had the honor being involved, even if it was just wearing the monkey suit in SoCal summer heat (you know who you are!). This was a true piece of Internet history, and I'm proud to say I was with it since the first episode. All the other shows have been great as well, but Cataclysmo was the Star Wars in your George Luc'esque lineup. I hope you will still leave it online for times to come to generate more traffic. Can't wait for the DVD! Pack it full of extras if you please!
I will continue watching whatever you put up on Web Serials, but I will continually look forward to projects involving the Cataclysmo crew.
C'mon fellows, give yourselves a big hand! Company bow!
I hope you had the proper wrap party. If you did, any footage of that left?

Finally!
This is by far the most FX laden episode. No wonder the serial gods had to pull an all-nighter. Congrats! Again, for a no-budget crew this is some nifty work!
At long last time is coming full circle. Johnny's destiny (and subsequent death) has arrived! And as for the rest of the crew, I imagine there is still a satisfying dénouement in the wings.
A standing ovation for ye serial gods!

Cool!
Yes, and? I see no new episode up! Still the trailer to the new serial...
I guess I'm too early. I sit in the Caribbean, so I'm several hours ahead of California.
Oh, the suspense is killing me!

*Sitting expectantly, chewing popcorn*
And so begins the conclusion of an epic saga. We all dreaded this day, and here it is. Lets hope that whatever follows in the footsteps of Cataclysmo can live up to it! That's right! I'm talking to you, oh strange new I-don't-have-a-name-yet-but-a-cool-logo-webseries!
Only time will tell...
I'll say this... these flying Winnibegos have a lot more firepower than Mel's.

WebSerials.com / General Discussion / Re: We've racked up one more mention in the news...

The article promisses "the best web series in Spanish and English".
It then basically sums up two Spanish ones, the later which allows for viewers to participate and even decide the outcome and character development. For the English web serials it briefly mentions only lonelygirl15 (because its available with subtitles), comedycentral and webserials.com in the same breath, as well as youtube in general.
Not much, but something is something!

WebSerials.com / General Discussion / Re: (OT) The Asylum Studios taken to court by Fox Studios over newest "mockbuste

Ah, the old Asylum issue. Strange we should stumble upon it in this forum time and time again. Most of the times the comments went something like this: "WebSerials produces entertainment way better than The Asylum!" and "No-Budget wins over Low-Budget" and the obvious "WebSerials kicks butt, The Asylum is the butt being kicked!" or something along these eloquent lines. I may be exaggerating, but I'm sure we were all thinking it.
Besides being very true (plus the fact that them serial gods made much better use of Erin, and that's all I'm gonna say about that ;-) I really did expect this at some point. I am not certain why they felt they had to do this, since on a whole I doubt there is much to be gained when a giant squashes a leech, pardon the pun. If anything, this can only expose the Asylum to some publicity. But if the case does go through it would mean open season on The Asylum, with everyone getting in a punch. Including Disney... did you see their newest rip with the Sunday School Musical? Good grief!
But I will say this: their staple on actors with names has been growing, what with Mark Dacascos in 'I Am Omega' and Jurgen Prochnow in 'Merlin: War of the Dragons', or even Michael Gross in '100 Million BC' (he left Tremors for THAT?!?!). They are definitely gaining ground and budgets... a few bucks anyway.
The above quoted article quoted a very good line when the Marx brothers released a kind of mockbuster/parody and Warners got all itchy about it:
"Even if you plan on rereleasing your picture," Groucho Marx famously responded in a letter to Warners, "I am sure the average movie fan could learn in time to distinguish between Ingrid Bergman and Harpo."

Nifty, nifty. It's at times like these that I resent that this is only 'bite-sized entertainment'. What If I crave entire gulps?!
"Captain Spandex" hehe... actually I expected "Captain Tightpants". Honestly!

Wow! Someone ought to make a list of all the movies referenced here. Was that really the Hawkmen from Flash Gordon? My first guess was Wizard of Oz... you know: flying monkeys.
Well... we're starting to get closer to Johnny's death and time-travel. I wonder if it's the queen that shoots him just before he uses the time-staff...
And we still got some time-paradoxes to work out, not the least which are the double Wells and Amelia...
Bring on the rest!

A dramatic start! I can just see lots of FX work coming up!
I'm a little confused as to the time-frame we're in. Are all these kids part of the Gas Mask Gang? And how did they manage to survive the transformation?
I have one little beef with this episode... The probability of flying Winnebagos aside, why didn't ya'all make a little bit cooler?! Like... with wings! Some awesome turbines! Since most of the times that the RVs show up are in FX shots anyway...
Oh well. Bring on the battle!

Our Shows / Cataclysmo / Stupid Hologram!
|
on: October 26, 2008, 09:46:16 PM

I knew something would come I couldn't predict! In fact, the fact that I couldn't predict it was the only fact I could predict. But then again, I didn't predict the other "I am your father" reveal in movie history, either. And the reactions were entirely different. I thought at least Johnny would break into a "Nooooooo!!!" A little too fast on the "you-my-dad? Kewl."-reaction, methinks. But that's just IMHO. But... the son's of H.G. Wells and Emilia Earhart... It does explain Bucky's bedroom-eyes, his height and... erm.... wiryness. Johnny's relative shortness and roguish-good looks must be from mommy's side then... And then the "I gave my only son(s)" was very biblical in a way... Loved the hologram-hug! Very nice comedic relief in an otherwise emotionally-weighty and expository (but necessary) scene. Also, was this not the longest Cataclysmo segment so far? Keep it coming! This (family)saga is coming to an exiting conclusion! Now for some monkey-action if you please... /Alec PS: what are bedroom-eyes anyway?

And action figures to secretly play with.
And a Tickle-me-Bucky that says "I like salt!" in an annoyingly squeaky voice.
And life-size Gorilla-cut-outs.
And Crankshaft T-shirts with...
...wait, we've been through that.
